I’ll be the first to admit that I’m no expert at integrating electric drums or live drums to an acoustic setting or live at church, but I have done it two pretty simple ways, and make a big impact.
1. TM-1 | 2 triggers | $365 investment | skill level - basic
GEAR USED
Ok, for this one, you attach each trigger to your drums of choice. I would recommend kick and snare and then placing the trigger module next to your hi-hat. You then send the signal out via one quarter-inch cable to your soundboard, just like you would a guitar or any other instrument. Then, your soundman has control of your kit on the mics and the triggers on a separate channel. This can help create a really clean and defined kick and snare track and help it cut through and punch through the mix.
2. TM-6 | 6 triggers | $1,300 investment | skill level -intermediate
GEAR USED
This is more of an “all-in” approach, triggering every drum and the snare with a dual trigger.
If you’re interested, I have a 2 part video series breaking down how I do this in-depth! Do you use triggers? let me know!
